This foothills residence’s back yard
was transformed from a small 12’ x 25’ deck on a sloping
hillside to several thousands of square feet of usable
level spaces for outdoor living and entertainment. After
substantial excavation and grading was completed, approximately
80 tons of boulders were brought in and installed to
define and retain the various levels of planting beds
and outdoor rooms. A 900 sf deck was constructed with
a 16’ wide rustic mountain style gazebo to provide a
cool shaded area on hot summer days. One level up from
the deck is a cedar trellis structure that is the centerpiece
for the pea gravel play area. The pergola provides a
structure for the kids' swings, along with filtered
shade to protect them form the sun. Of course, what
would a play area be without a slide? By installing
a slide into a rock out cropping we were able to accommodate
the kids function with an aesthetic that is much nicer
than that of a standard play set. To top everything
off, we added a rainbow over the gazebo. Please keep
in mind that rainbows are seasonal, and we cannot guarantee
how long they will last. Call Margo at the office for
details.
